Our Commitment
DPE Waitlist is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We work to continually improve the user experience for everyone, including pilots, Designated Pilot Examiners, and Certified Flight Instructors who interact with our platform, and we apply the relevant accessibility standards across our website and application.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
DPE Waitlist aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We perform ongoing audits against this standard and prioritize remediation of any issues we discover or that are reported to us.
Measures We Take
- Semantic HTML with appropriate landmarks, headings, and form labels.
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements, with visible focus indicators.
- ARIA live regions to announce dynamic content like form validation and successes.
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds AA thresholds for text and UI components.
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting. - Skip-to-content link for screen reader and keyboard users.
- Form inputs with autocomplete hints, descriptive errors, and explicit associations between labels, fields, and help text.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known areas we are actively improving include:
- Some legacy PDF documents (e.g. FAA forms) may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We provide accessible alternatives on request.
- Complex data tables, charts, and reports are progressively being enhanced with richer text alternatives.
- Third-party embedded content (e.g. payment processors, captcha) is subject to the accessibility of those providers, though we choose vendors with strong accessibility track records.
Compatibility
DPE Waitlist is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Recent versions of NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
- The latest two versions of major browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- Operating system zoom and high-contrast modes on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
